Hailing from Stockholm, Beatrice Eli is another one off the Scandinavian conveyor belt of new female artists with amazing voices. The first song I heard was The Conqueror and since then I’ve been hooked. Check it out for yourself:
On her music she said, “ I like classical arrangements, strong lyrics and hooks. If you have that, you can put an interesting production on it and make it fresh, but also timeless” which is good for us, as they’re classic pop songs that could stand up on their own if they were played on an acoustic guitar.
Cheaper technology has meant that anybody with a computer can now make music in their bedroom, and it’s not hard nowadays to make something sound nice. Although this of course has it’s advantages (more people can make music, not just the rich kids that can afford to go to a studio to record a demo), it’s also meant that there’s a lot more shit put out every day. But anyway, enough of getting side tracked.
Beatrice Eli isn’t one of those people making shit music that sonically sounds nice due to fancy production. Her songs are strong songs in general, and the neat production only emphasises the strength of the songs.
She recently signed with Swedish label Razzia Records, and The Conqueror, her first release through them, is out now.
