Laura Welsh: II

We introduced you to Laura Welsh last month, and by now it should be pretty clear to our regular readers that we don’t tend to do more than one post on an artist – you’ve already heard them, most likely seen what they look like and heard them on loads of other blogs as well. But Laura Welsh is worth making an exception for.

If you liked Ghosts then you’re gonna love 45. It’s a powerful, building, rising pop song with great lyrics and powerful vocals. There’s not much else to say about it except it’s a cracking song, so go listen:

And here’s Ghosts for all you people that were living in caves last month…

Laura Welsh

London-based, Staffordshire-born singer Laura Welsh is the latest in a long line of great female singer songwriters. Because she’s a female she’ll get compared to Adele, Emile Sande, Florence and Rae Morris, but to bundle all these amazing artists into one category is wrong. It will inevitably happen, but it’s not right.

Laura Welsh, currently unsigned but surely not for much longer, has a beautiful voice, writes beautiful songs and is beautiful herself, so it’s only a matter of time before she’s signed to one of the majors.

Ghosts is one of the best songs I’ve heard recently. It reall  and the sparse production compliments the song and her voice perfectly.

Here’s her beautiful song Ghosts:

She’s been getting a lot of attention from other blogs as well as a few celebrity fans, named Marina from Marina & The Diamonds, who tweeted a link to the video for Ghosts. There’s no live dates at the moment, so for the time being just go and enjoy her voice!
