It was Bonfire night last night. It was Halloween last week. Which means that the next big event is Christmas (unless your birthday is between now and Xmas, in which case I feel for you as you get both lots of presents around same time as year. My birthday is in July which means that my present receiving is evenly spread over the year – thanks mum n dad!)
Anyway, it’s Christmas soon which means its the end of the year and means people like me (bloggers, not people whose star sign in cancer) like to look ahead and pretend that we can predict which artists will be successful next year. I got an email about voting in the bloggers sound of 2013 which I’ve just done and have voted for 5 artists I think will be commercially successful (who haven’t had an album out yet). “So why bother with this post then?” I hear you cry! Well, I shouldn’t have to justify myself to you, but here goes anyway.
In the rules of this ‘bloggers sound of 2013′ it says you can’t vote for any artists you’re involved with, or have a commercial interest in which meant I couldn’t vote for any of the artists signed to the label that I work for. So that’s the main reason.
The other reason is that I want to. So there.
Here’s my list of 10 new artists I think will be successful in 2013. In alphabetical order (I’m not doing 1 to 10, that’s far too complicated):
