Alabama Shakes are one of the most anticipated bands of 2012. A proper rock ‘n’ roll band with added flavours of gospel, soul and blues, their debut album Boys & Girls is released in March through Rough Trade Records and is sure to win them the amount of fans a band this good deserves.
Named as one of the best bands of CMJ last year, 2012 looks to be an exciting one for this Alabama-based four piece, with lead vocalist Brittany Howard having a delicate and powerful voice in equal measure, occasionally cracking much like Caleb Followill’s and at other times blowing your socks off.
Here’s Hold On. Take a listen, you’ll find it pretty fucking hard not to nod your head along to it.
