I find it fascinating when I find out people that I went to school with are doing music. The majority are becoming lawyers, doctors, insurance brokers or bankers, and it’s always nice to know that there was other people that decided to go the music route.
Jethro Fox was a couple of years below me at Colchester Royal Grammar School and he’s doing some great things out of LIPA university in Liverpool. I stumbled across his music online recently and I recognised his name and loved his music.
The first song I heard was Echo, and it immediately stood out to me. As a blogger I spend a fair bit of time trawling through other blogs to see what they’re going on about, and quite frankly a lot of it is shit (although I’m sure they think the same about my blog, but it would be boring if we all had the same tastes, all blogs would be the same and it would be shit!) but Jethro Fox stood out to me. I found him on the Von Pip Musical Express, so thanks to them! Here’s his new song, Echo:
First of all, let’s get this straight – it’s a great song, very catchy, both in terms of vocals and music, but the production is top-notch. And it adds to the song. Plenty of reverb, great guitar sounds and the percussion sounds so crisp and nice.
Here’s an older song by Mr Fox, called Before. Go check it:
He’s playing the Station Sessions at St Pancras on 1 May, supporting Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, and he’s also supporting Perfume Genius at Great Escape on 12 May. Go check him out.
