Chet Faker is another artist keen to hide behind mysterious, faceless guise of the internet. And why not?
He’s from Melbourne, Australia and comes from a disco/house music scene – understandable then, that he’s taken some of those electronic elements and blended them an acoustic/folk side, which combines to make some beautiful, simple songs that will appeal to multiple audiences. His press release says that he’s a ‘part jazz, part soul, part electronic artist’, and I’d be wrong to disagree with that.
Chet rose to ‘fame’ when his cover of No Diggity rose to the top of the Hype Machine charts, somehow now a bench mark for how successful an artist is becoming. But anyway, it’s a great song and a great cover, so have a listen.
He’s recently supported artists such as Toro y Moi and Washed Out, and played at SXSW where he was named one of ‘Austin Chronicles picks for 2012′. Here’s his brilliant new song, I’m Into You:
His debut EP Thinking In Textures is released in early April through Chess Club Records, go buy it and check out this unique talent.
