I like bands from LA. I like all-girl bands from LA even more. I like all-girl bands from LA that make good music even more! Haim are an all-girl band from LA that make good music. Oh, and their sisters.

Their playing at SXSW at the moment and are surely one of that bands that will have A&R’s falling over their chequebooks to sign them.

I suppose you could call them the US version of The Staves, the amazing girl group, signed to Atlantic, made up of 3 sisters. But that’s where the similarities end.

The Staves are from Watford, Haim are from LA. The Staves play folk-y pop music, Haim make alternative pop music. Both groups use their voices to create amazing harmonies and both write great songs.

In the last 12 months Haim have supported¬†Julian Casablancas, No Age, The Bird and the Bee, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Chief and The Henry Clay People among others, so it’s only a matter of time before they get picked up.

Here’s their song Forever:

If you’re lucky enough to be at SXSW make sure you go check them out. They’re playing at the Karima Lounge tomorrow at 8pm.
